Taunton Whist Club game recap week 13

On Thursday Sept. 22nd the Taunton Whist  Club held it's 13th whist game of the 2016 season.

 Average score on the East / West side of the boards was 28.20 points  with the team of David Gonsalves and Paul Hull winning with 34 points..

2nd place went to the team of Peg Courcy & Anne Waterman with 32 points…3rd place went to the team of Fred & Roberta Ruehrwein  with 30 points.

 Average score on the North / South side of the boards was 43.33 points with the team of Arlene Gouveia & Dolores Nunes winning with 53 points followed by Jerry & Joanne Bishop  with 51 points finishing in second place. Third place went to the team of  Tony Ferreira & Larry Letourneau with 48 points.

On Sunday October 2nd I had the privilege of directing the Killdeer Island Annual Public Whist Party. The historic Killdeer Island event has been a long time fundraiser for the Killdeer Island Club since the 1940's. Earlier this year I was informed that long time game organizer and director Ruth Lavigne had passed away. I was contacted shortly after and was asked by the club if I could direct and run the whist game and continue the long standing tradition because nobody in the organization knew how to direct the whist game… I said yes, and on Sunday, 16 members of my Taunton Whist Club made the trip to Lake Char­gogg­a­gogg­man­chaugg­a­gogg­chau­bun­a­gung­a­maugg…Member's were treated to the usually lunch of homemade soups and sandwiches prepared by club members.. Winners of the event receive money prize for top score for the men and top score for the women.. Winners of the event were my mother Arlene Gouveia of Taunton, MA and Brian Choiniere of Charlton, MA
